Antwerp artist/composer David Edren (°1977) has been creating sounds and music through his DSR Lines alias since the turn of the millennium, which eventually led to releasing records with various imprints around the world. Being interested in and influenced by various kinds of media, his creative output covers a broad array of audio and visual applications; sound, music, photography, graphics, assemblage, crafts, print, design, film, animation, text, ..
Exploring a new pathway 'Music for Mimosa Pudica & Codariocalyx' a first conceptual work (released as David Edren) saw the light of day in 2015. This commissioned album accompanied Narelle Dore & Sigrid Volders’ Earth.Rope.Pot Plant publication. Social Harmony released his evenly conceptual 'Electronic Gamelan Music' in 2017 and in 2018 Edren teamed up with artist Jatinder Singh Durhailay to record the album 'Tea Notes', released on 12" vinyl in 2019 by the Antwerp label Ekster.
In 2023, two new albums materialised;
the highly anticipated solo effort titled 'Relativiteit Van de Omgeving' through Los Angeles imprint NotNotFun Records and the collaborative album 'Flow | 流れ' with Tokyo artist H.Takahashi.
'Daarbuiten' a limited edition cassette on Osaka label Muzan Editions marked an array of new actions for 2024-2025 including a full album titled 'Binnenin', released through Italian label Black Sweat Records in fall and a musical tour to Japan coinciding with the albums release.
David is a highly active source in the Belgian alternative music scene since early 2000, specifically in Antwerp; playing in various bands and projects, being involved in Scheld’apen from the start, working there as a promotor (2007-2013), co-founding Het Bos in 2014 and working there up until the present day. He has been involved with Dennis Tyfus’ art practice and part of his label Ultra Eczema since 2001, producing animation video for exhibitions, audio mastering, layout, web design and various other projects.
In 2012 David created the label Hare Akedod with long term friend and co-conspirator Bent Von Bent and together they produce music as Spirit & Form. As a performer, Edren is also part of Het Interstedelijk Harmoniumverbond,the Indian harmonium-based acoustic quartet.
His numerous works have been released by Ultra Eczema (be), Jj Funhouse (be), Ekster (be), Abstrakce (esp), Not Not Fun (us), Black Sweat Records (it), Lallallal (fin), Sicsic (de), Social Harmony (be) and Kankyō Records (jp) amongst others.
